358 Fence Impact Test for Structural Stability

358 fences are widely used for high-security perimeter protection, where structural strength, anti-climb performance and long-term reliability are important.

Giant Fence conducts a 358 fence impact test on an installed fence system to evaluate its structural stability under low-speed vehicle impact.

Test Purpose

The test evaluates how the installed 358 fence system responds when a truck reverses against it at low speed. It focuses on the stability of the fence panel, posts and fixing system, as well as the extent of deformation after the vehicle push.

Test Procedure

A complete 358 fence section was installed with fence panels, posts and connecting accessories. A light truck was then reversed into the installed fence at low speed, applying a direct push to the panel and post base.

After the test, the fence was inspected for:

  • Overall panel deformation
  • Welded mesh integrity
  • Post stability
  • Condition of panel-to-post connections
  • Movement or loosening of fixing accessories
  • Overall structural integrity after impact

In the tested section, the panel was pushed and tilted, while the mesh, posts and panel-to-post connections remained assembled. The recorded deformation serves as a reference for installation and fixing design.

What the Test Evaluates
  • Impact resistance. The test evaluates the fence system's response to a direct low-speed vehicle push, including the resulting deformation.
  • Panel strength. The dense welded mesh panel is inspected for deformation, wire displacement and weld condition after the vehicle push. In the tested section, the mesh remained intact while the panel was pushed and tilted.
  • Post stability. Fence posts provide critical structural support. The post base and its anchorage carry loads transferred from the panel, and their condition after the push helps evaluate the stability of the complete installation.
  • Connection reliability. Fixings and panel-to-post connections are checked to determine whether the fence system remains securely assembled after the vehicle push.
  • Overall fence integrity. Testing the complete installed system provides a more realistic assessment of its structural performance than testing individual components separately.
Practical Testing for Reliable Security

At Giant Fence, product quality is evaluated through both material inspection and practical performance testing. The 358 fence impact test helps evaluate the strength and stability of the complete fence system, including the welded mesh panel, posts and connecting components. Testing under low-speed vehicle push conditions provides valuable insights into the system's structural reliability for demanding perimeter security applications.
