Geotextile Tensile Strength Test
The geotextile liner is a key component of Giant Fence defensive barrier units, retaining the filling material while the welded mesh provides the structural framework. During filling, installation and long-term outdoor service, the liner is subjected to pulling and stretching forces.
To evaluate the liner’s response to these forces, Giant Fence conducted a geotextile tensile strength test using a universal testing machine. The test assesses the material’s tensile strength and elongation behavior, helping verify its ability to withstand tensile loads and supporting the evaluation of its suitability for retaining fill in defensive barrier applications.

The tensile strength test evaluates the geotextile liner’s ability to withstand tensile loads and its deformation behavior under tension. By measuring the applied force and the corresponding specimen elongation, the test provides a basis for assessing the material’s tensile strength and elongation characteristics.
The results help assess the liner’s suitability for maintaining material integrity during filling, installation and outdoor service in defensive barrier applications.
A prepared geotextile specimen is securely clamped between the upper and lower grips of a universal testing machine. The machine then applies a controlled tensile load, gradually stretching the specimen. During the test, the applied force and corresponding elongation are monitored in real time through the machine’s digital control panel.
The measurements are used to evaluate:
At Giant Fence, material quality is assessed through both visual inspection and performance testing. The geotextile tensile strength test is one of the methods we use to evaluate liner material performance and support consistent quality control for defensive barriers and other protective installations.
