PROJECT BACKGROUND
An African wholesale distributor ordered 1,800 sets of 358 security fence systems with I posts and spikes for a commercial wine estate in South Africa. The estate required reliable perimeter protection for its vineyards, storage facilities, equipment and staff accommodation across a large rural property.
The estate’s extensive grounds and remote location presented risks of theft, vandalism and unauthorised access. The fencing solution needed to provide effective physical deterrence while maintaining visibility and complementing the surrounding landscape. The 358 mesh was selected for its resistance to climbing and cutting, while the RAL 7016 anthracite grey PE coating was chosen for its visual compatibility and resistance to UV exposure, heat and seasonal rain.

QUALITY CONTROL
Quality inspections were conducted at each stage to verify compliance with the specified dimensions, coating quality and assembly requirements.
- Material and Specification Verification: Checked wire diameter (4.0 mm), mesh opening (76.2 × 25 mm), panel dimensions (2.1 × 3.0 m), and I post specifications (44 × 70 mm profile, 2.0 mm wall thickness and 3.2 m length).
- Bend Formation Inspection: Verified the consistency of the four reinforcing bends on each panel to ensure uniform rigidity and dimensional stability.
- Dimensional Inspection: Measured panel width (3.0 m) and height (2.1 m) by batch, and verified post length (3.2 m) and profile dimensions.
- PE Coating Inspection: Checked coating thickness and adhesion.
- Spider Clip and Spike Fitment Test: Trial-fitted spider clips to posts and panels to verify alignment, secure grip and ease of installation. Checked spikes for uniform shape and secure attachment.
- Pre-shipment Assembly Inspection: Fully assembled randomly selected sets, including panels, I posts, spider clips and spikes, to verify component compatibility and secure panel retention.
- Packaging Inspection: Verified that all 1,800 sets were packed on pallets with protective wrapping and edge protection.

POST-INSTALLATION SHOWCASE
Following installation along the wine farm perimeter, the 358 security fence system demonstrated the following results:
- Visual Integration: The RAL 7016 grey finish created a clean, modern boundary that blended naturally with vineyards, farm roads and surrounding vegetation, providing security with minimal visual intrusion.
